Copper Strike boosts Kaiser Bill

COPPER Strike has reported an increase in the size and grade at its Kaiser Bill prospect, part of the company’s flagship Einasleigh project in north Queensland.

The Melbourne-based company said it had upgraded the resource at Kaiser Bill to 15.6 million tonnes at a grade of 0.88% copper based on a 22 hole drilling program.

Of the total mineral resource, 13.4Mt at 0.86% copper is in the indicated category and 2.2Mt at 0.99% copper in the inferred category.

“The new resource at Kaiser Bill represents a 22 percent increase in tonnes, 11 percent increase in grade and a 32 percent increase in contained copper compared to the last resource figure that we published at Kaiser Bill,” Copper Strike managing director Tom Eadie said.

“The new resource will now be the basis of a refinement of the feasibility study on the Einasleigh project.”

Eadie said drilling in 2008 had led to resource increases in contained copper and contained zinc/lead to 220,000 tonnes and 602,000t respectively across the company’s projects.

“We expect further such increases in the future, though probably not in 2009 when drilling will be curtailed,” he added.

The upgraded mineral resource at Kaiser Bill was estimated by Golder Associates.

Shares in Copper Strike have gained 0.4c to 6c in early afternoon trade.
